Gerald Robert Rehberger

Gerald Robert Rehberger, 41

Gerald Robert Rehberger, 41, an outgoing, adventurous man of intense good will and an inveterate motorcyclist, died in a traffic accident Feb. 21 in Ft. Pierce, Fla.

Rehberger was born March 22, 1966, in Seattle. He grew up in suburban Bellevue and attended Interlake High School, where he was a member of the school’s football, wrestling and soccer teams. He graduated in 1984. A goalie, Rehberger was named a KingCo All-Star in 1984 and later taught the sport in the greater Seattle area.

The outdoors was particularly beckoning to him. He took great pleasure in boating, scuba diving and flying. Rehberger earned a commercial pilot’s license in 1987. An enthusiastic traveler, he found Asia of consummate interest.

In 1985, he journeyed the 600 miles from Bellevue to Ketchikan, Alaska, in a 13-foot inflatable Boston Whaler.

Rehberger’s working life of more than 20 years found him spending much of his time in the hotel business in a variety of jobs. He enjoyed not being tied down to one assignment.

Rehberger was preceded in death by his father Robert. He is survived by his mother, Claudette Robertson, and step-father, Donald Robertson of Arlington; sister, Saundra (Craig) Pendleton of Kingston; brother, Charles Rehberger of Bellingham; uncle, Gerald G. Rehberger of Bellingham and aunt, Donna Hesslin of Sacramento, Calif.

A private celebration of Gerald Robert Rehberger’s life is pending.
