Jacquelyn Cain Budd

Former Hansville and Poulsbo resident, Jacquelyn “Jackie” Budd died June 29 in Kirkland. She was 89.

Born on June 9, 1920, in Spokane, Budd moved with her family to the Seattle area at the age of five. She graduated Bainbridge Island High in 1938. In 1942 she married Gail Budd of Seattle and moved with him to Skagway, Alaska, where they lived until 1975 when they retired to their beach home near Point No Point.

After Gail’s passing in 1999, Budd moved first to Poulsbo and then to Edmonds and Kirkland. The Budds were active members of the Hansville Community Club and several area bridge clubs. Budd especially loved making music and entertaining and belonged to both the Windjammers and Jems music groups.

Survivors include her daughters Patti Sele-Brockman of Kirkland and Sharon Budd of Mount Vernon; and her brother Dick Cain and his family of Edmonds. She had four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
