James T. Burnett, 71
James (Jim) Burnett, a resident of Athol, Idaho, died March 19 after a long battle with cancer.
Burnett was born Aug. 26, 1936, in Wenatchee to James and Edna Burnett. He married Carol Lekberg on Aug. 15, 1956, in Seattle.
Burnett entered the Air Force in 1953 and was stationed at Cambria Air Force Base in California. After retiring from the military, he and his family moved to Seattle, and he worked for Independent Delivery for many years. He enjoyed working with young people, was very active in Little League and coached baseball, football and basketball. He was also a Boy Scout leader.
Burnett also belonged to the Seattle Cossack Drill and Stunt Team.
In 1974, he and his family moved to Swanville, Minn. He drove for Fingerhut, International Transport and Anderson Trucking.
He was an active member of the Masons in both Seattle and Minnesota. He loved the mountains, camping and spending time with his family. Burnett remarried in March 2005 to Evelyn Busick. They moved to Athol, Idaho.
Burnett is survived by his wife Evelyn, three sons Jim (Lynn) Burnett of Poulsbo, Steve (Sandra) Burnett of Sagle, Idaho and Jeff (Jae) Burnett of Corona, Calif. He is also survived by two daughters, Sheryl (Paul) Mrosla of Royalton, Minn. and Teri (special friend Todd) Fellegy of Pillager, Minn., as well as 17 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother Bennie.
