Jerry Ray Wedel, 71, went to be with the Lord on March 20. He was living at Martha & Mary Health & Rehab Center in Poulsbo, Washington.
Jerry, born in Hardin, Montana, moved to California as a young man. After high school, Jerry served in the Marine Corps. On Nov. 14, 1970, in Santa Monica, he married his loving wife, Milly, with whom he raised two daughters.
After 40 years in the banking business, Jerry retired. He and his wife had been living in Juneau, Alaska at the time of his retirement and relocated to Washington.
Jerry loved the outdoors and sports of all kinds and particularly enjoyed stream and lake fishing and was an avid golfer until a few years before his death.
Though he enjoyed watching his daughters play sports, Jerry was especially proud when they graduated from college, as he felt that a good education was one of the keys to a happy life.
Jerry had a great sense of humor and will be remembered as a devoted family man, a good friend, a patriot, and a Christian.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 45 years, Milly Wedel (née Medved), daughter and son-in-law Emily and Casey Demmert of Sitka, Alaska, daughter and son-in-law Rebecca Lynn and Jason Parker of Poulsbo, four grandsons, one granddaughter, and his brother, Jack Wedel. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Harriet Wedel, and by his sister, Gail Bricker.
A celebration of his life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9 at Gateway Fellowship, 18901 8th Ave. NE, Poulsbo. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Martha & Mary, 19160 Front St. NE, PO Box 127, Poulsbo, WA 98370 or www.marthaandmary.org/support/donate.
