Joan K. Mathews, 85

Joan K. Mathews died May 19, 2006 in Poulsbo. She was 85.

Mathews was born to Walter J. and Gertrude (Soulak) Morris on March 6, 1921 in Portland, Ore.

She married Kenneth E. Mathews on Jan. 1, 1943.

She was primarily a homemaker, but worked at Poulsbo Drug as well. She also enjoyed working at the American Cancer Society’s Discovery Shop as a volunteer.

Mathews enjoyed rug hooking, arts and crafts, traveling and spending time with her family. She was a member of PEO Chapter GI, Bremerton Yacht Club and the Skipperettes.

Mathews is survived by sons Richard (Joan L.) Mathews of Portland, Ore., and Robert (Marilyn) Mathews of Poulsbo; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Mathews was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth E. Mathews and her daughter Sandra Mathews.

Private family services will be held at later date.
