Joanne was born and raised in Seattle, WA., graduating from Roosevelt HS. Having met on a blind date, she married Joe Ramhorst in 1952. After living briefly in Richmond Beach the family moved to Bainbridge.
While Joanne raised their two kids she volunteered many hours at Bainbridge Arts & Crafts. She also loved hunting for artifacts at the old Port Blakey Mill site, donating many pieces to the Bainbridge Is. Historical Museum. Years later when the pieces were catalogued, the archeologist/photographer coincidentally ended up being her granddaughter. Joanne’s keen eye for antiques came in handy while volunteering thousands of hours at the Children’s Orthopedic “Bargain Boutique”. She loved rescuing cats, fishing, boating, jewelry making, horses, jazz and raunchy limericks. In 1998 she and Joe moved to the warmth and sunshine of Northern California. Joanne is survived by Joe, son Marc Ramhorst, daughter Christine Salo (Mark Salo) and granddaughter Andrea Cait Ramhorst. Remembrances may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation or PAWS of Bainbridge Is.
