John Marcel Chittenden died April 29, 2007, in Bremerton. He was 60 years old.
He was born to Capt. John A. and Leonie B. (Marcel) Chittenden-Farsje in Chicago. He graduated from West High School in 1964 and attended Olympic College. Chittenden served in the U.S. Navy from 1967-70 and was a petty officer second class, serving during Vietnam.
From 1970-78, he was a regional sales manager of Conwood Corporation. From 1982-94, he was vice-president of Swisher, Inc. From 1994-04, Chittenden was co-owner of Brewski’s Tavern in Bremerton. He was a member of the Kitsap County Fair Board, Kitsap Rodeo Cowpokes, U.S. Navy League, Disabled American Veterans, Bremerton Yacht Club, Washington Athletic Club and was a United Way fund-raiser.
Chittenden was an avid boater, car collector and outdoorsman. He was preceded in death by his father, John A. Chittenden in 1980. Survivors include his life partner Mark Tempel of Bremerton; mother Leonie (Marcel) Chittenden of Bremerton; sisters Kathleen M. (Jerry) Simpson of Bremerton, and Jeanne L. (Jon Pearson) Jones of Chico; nieces and nephews Kirk, Rachael, Heather, Monica, Collette and Ryan; grand nieces and nephews, Colin, Morgan, Makai and Leyton; aunt Kay (Hank) Hollis of Bremerton; and cousin Jim. Services were Thursday at Our Lady Star of the Sea in Bremerton. Memorial donations can be made to Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic School, 1513 Sixth Street, Bremerton, WA 98337.
