John E. Lewis

John E. Lewis of Suquamish died on April 26. He was 76.

Lewis was born to William A. and Mary A. (Hogan) Lewis in Seattle on Feb. 10, 1927.

He married Luella A. (Vosgien) Lewis on May 7, 1954 in Suquamish.

He attended North Kitsap High School and served in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of Corporal. Major awards included Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Victory Medal and Army of Occupation (Japan). He was employed by the U.S. Government at PSNS, Bangor and Keyport.

Lewis enjoyed antique guns, dogs and his family.

Lewis is survived by daughters Noni M. Erickson of Bremerton and Renee A. Gianotti of Tacoma; stepdaughter Deanna M. Waldroop of Poulsbo; and more than 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

Lewis was preceded in death by his wife Luella A. (Vosgien) Lewis and brothers J. Cecil Lewis, Harold H. Lewis and E. Clyde Lewis.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. May 17 at Suquamish Community Church.
