Judy “N.Y. Judy” Dougherty of Port Orchard died Oct. 25, 2003 at her son’s home in Poulsbo.

Dougherty was born to Philip and Julia (Fitzgerald) Grauer in Manhattan, N.Y.

She married Michael Joseph Dougherty on May 8, 1943 in New York.

Dougherty volunteered at St. Gabriel Catholic Church and the St. Vincent DePaul Society. At one point in her life, she lived in Subic Bay, Philippines.

She enjoyed travelling and was proud of her Irish background. She loved to talk and shop. She was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church.

Dougherty is survived by her son Brian (Ellen) Dougherty of Poulsbo; daughter Diane (John) McGuire of New York; sister Dorothy O’Toole of New York; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Michael Joseph Dougherty, son Michael Dennis Dougherty, daughter Susan Stevens and sisters Vee Matthes and Pinkie Saverese.

A funeral mass was held on Oct. 27 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, with interment following at Sunset Lane Memorial Park.
