Lavonna L. Allen, 69, was born on Oct. 12, 1944, to Clark and Ella (Malhiot) Rubens in Bremerton. She died Dec. 11, 2013, with her family by her side after a well fought fight against cancer.
Lavonna grew up in Bremerton and attended Central Kitsap High School, graduating in 1962.
In the summer of 1960, she met K. Robert Allen and they were married on Nov. 23, 1963, and just recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
While being a mother and wife, Lavonna found time to go back to school and graduated from Olympic College. She loved country music, dancing, traveling, shopping and especially watching baseball and the Mariners.
Spending time with friends and family was very important to her and she had unwavering commitment and love for her family and would do anything for her children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and is survived by her brother, David Rubens, and his wife Bokhee of Bremerton; her loving husband, K. Robert Allen, and her children and their families, Ken Allen of Bremerton; Rebecca and Jim Altman and their children: Jammin, Gelleenna, Lutherus and Cleveland of New Bern, N.C.; Joyia and Steve Keil and their children: Samantha and Timothy of Bremerton, and Monica Kidd and her children, Hannah, Joseph and Tiffany of Seabeck.
She also leaves behind other family members along with many nieces, nephews and friends including Joyia Rubens, Dwight Malhiot and Mike and Kathy Height.
She will forever live in the hearts of all who knew her. A memorial service will be Sat. Dec. 21 at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 8065 Chico Way in Bremerton. Donations can be made to the church or to the Fred Lowthian Care Center at 570 Lebo Blvd. in Bremerton.
