LeRoy G. Tingelstad, 80

LeRoy G. Tingelstad died Feb. 25, 2005 in Poulsbo. He was 80.

He was born to Anton and Minda (Johnson) Tingelstad Aug. 18, 1924 in Pelican Rapids, Minn.

Tingelstad married Luella A. Pound on June 15, 1953 in Webster, S.D.

He worked as a wood craftsman at NUWC Keyport and retired in 1985.

He served in the United States Army from 1943-1946 and was a Private First Class. He received a Purple Heart and was part of the infantry in Italy.

Tingelstad is survived by his wife Luella Tingelstad of Poulsbo; sons Jerry (Susan) Tingelstad of Quilcene and Keith Tingelstad of Silverdale; daughters Diane (Ken) Mende of Spokane and Becky (Randy) Thomas of Quilcene; brothers Milan (Leona) Tingelstad, Herbert (Lila) Tingelstad and Loyal (Shirley) Tingelstad, all of Detroit Lakes, Minn.; sisters Eleanor Tingelstad of Okasis, Minn. and Dora (Myron) Weber of Minneapolis, Minn.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother Alvin Tingelstad and granddaughter Wanda Tingelstad.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. March 3 at Vinland Lutheran Church in Poulsbo.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a food bank or charity of choice.
