Linda N. Gunby, 65
Linda Nuckols Gunby died June 28, 2006 at her home in Poulsbo. She was 65.
She was born in Nashville, Tenn., on Dec. 19, 1940, and was adopted by George and Gertrude Nuckols of White Plains, New York.
She married Albert Lee Gunby June 29, 1963 in Los Angeles, Calif.
Gunby graduated from University High School in Los Angeles, L.A. Valley College School of Nursing, and California State University, Sacramento with a bachelor’s in nursing. She was a member of the nursing honorary, Sigma Theta Tau.
Her nursing career included many years in public health, plus a term as president of Region 10, California Nurses Association. She worked as an office manager for Syntex, Systemix and Miller Quilts, and ran her own dressmaking business in San Jose, Calif. At the time of her death she was serving as an elected Commissioner, Fire District 18 (Poulsbo and North Kitsap).
She enjoyed sewing and all the fabric arts, especially quilting and wearable art.
Gunby is survived by her husband, Al of Poulsbo, son Lee (Tanya) Gunby of Brier, daughter Carol of San Jose, Calif., and four grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. July 15 at the Kitsap Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 4418 Perry Ave, Bremerton.
