Born August 22, 1949, lost her courageous battle with ovarian cancer on July 19, 2011. Linda was the second of five children, born to Milt and Lyla Benson, and raised in Seattle. Graduated from Franklin High School, Olympic College, PLU, and the UW with a masters degree as a pediatric nurse practitioner. During these school years she found time to marry her childhood sweetheart Jeff and raise her family, Courtney and Christian, all of whom were at her side at her passing.
Her career as a PNP was distinguished by her dedicated care and concern for both her patients and co-workers at Kitsap Children’s Clinic. Through her generosity, her home, always a place of much joy, fun, and support, was open to all, including our exchange student Katrine of Norway. She dearly loved music, cooking, travel, and animals of all shapes and sizes. Linda will always be remembered for the humor and creativity of her art work that lives on in the hearts and homes of many.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Jeff, daughter Courtney (Jessica) son Christian (Kelly and the Bean) and Katrine. Also, father Milt Benson, sisters Janice (Dave), Patty (Tom), brothers Ray (Sue), Danny (Sally), and many cousins nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Linda’s life will be at Bethany Lutheran Church on Bainbridge Island on August 14th at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family requests that all who have a story of a moment in time with Linda, please write and bring or send your story to Bethany Lutheran Church, c/o Jeff, 7968 Finch Road NE, Bainbridge Island, WA 98110.
