Lyle E. Steiner

Lyle E. Steiner, 88

Lyle Edward Steiner of Kingston died Dec. 23, 2003 in Mesa, Ariz. He was 88.

Steiner was born to William and May Steiner in Snohomish on Jan. 15, 1915.

He married Alexandria Steiner in May 1937.

Steiner graduated from Ballard High School in Ballard in 1933.

He worked as an engineer for the U.S. Army in Alaska prior to serving two years abroad on a U.S. Navy destroyer during World War II. He later worked for the Washington State Department of Transportation for 31 years.

Steiner was active in Class AA softball both as a player and a manager.

He was one of the founders of the Kingston Cove Yacht Club and an active boater. He was a member of the Mesa Loyal Order of the Moose.

Steiner is survived by his wife Alexandria Steiner; daughters Sandy of San Diego, Calif. and Sherry of Elk Grove, Calif; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
