Mardy Calhoun

Mardy Calhoun was born to Simon and Esther Witham in Canwood, Saskatchewan on Aug. 5, 1929. Mardy grew up in Duncan, B.C. and received her teaching degree in home economics from the University of British Columbia. In 1964, following her marriage to Charles Davis and the births of her children, Mardy moved to Indianola. She later married Bill Calhoun.

Teaching was Mardy’s passion. She taught kindergarten and first grade at Wolfie Elementary; children’s cake decorating; grades 1-6 at the Indianola Church School and home schooled a number of children. She was active in the Indianola Garden Club and enjoyed exercise classes with her friends at CAPRI.

Her grandchildren, Holly Krueger, Victor Cox, Dillon Davis, Kareena Story and Amy Davis were the lights of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Kent and Lloyd and both of her husbands. She is survived by her sister Grace Spinks; children: Averil (Randy) Story, Lauriann Atlee, Dianna (Stuart) Cox, Charlie (Ellen) Davis and Tilly the pug. Mardy will be buried at sea by the U.S. Navy.
