Marie Adeline Barker of Poulsbo died in Seattle May 24. She was 85.
She was born to Herbert H. and Mabel S. (Bengston) Beebe in Opheim, Mont. June 10, 1917.
She married Alton H. Barker on Jan. 17, 1941 in Poulsbo.
Barker graduated from Opheim High School Opheim, Mont. in 1936. She graduated from Montana State University in Havre, Mont. in 1938 and from Western Washington University in Bellingham in 1955.
She worked for the North Kitsap School District for 30 years before retiring in 1977.
Barker was involved in the Christian Women’s Club, Kitsap Retired Teachers and was a member of the Scandia Bible Church.
Barker is survived by her husband Alton H. Barker of Poulsbo; son Keith H. Barker of Poulsbo; daughter Barbara M. (Louis Van Doren) Congdon; brother Harold Beebe of Seattle; sisters Asenath Brozovich of Seattle, Stella Longan of Seattle and Doris Neubauer of Glasgow, Mont.; and two grandchildren.
Barker was preceded in death by her brothers Kermit, Willard, Gordon and Ira.
A visitation was held at Miller Woodlawn May 30. An interment was held May 30 at Mt. View Cemetery in Silverdale.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. May 31 at Scandia Bible Church, 16748 Scandia Road NW, in Poulsbo.
