Mary Jane Mong died Feb. 5 at The Hospice of Kitsap County Care Center in Bremerton. She was 93.
Mong was born June 21, 1915, in Edison. Mong had moved from Bow and lived in Kitsap County for the past 21 years.
She was a member of the Poulsbo First Lutheran Church and Edison Lutheran Church in Bow. Mong was married to Harold Mong in 1936, helping on a dairy farm for more than 51 years. After raising her family, she earned a nursing degree and worked in the medical field.
She and her husband moved to Poulsbo in 1987 to be near their children and grandchildren. Mong volunteered at Martha & Mary Health Care Services and the Fishline House.
She enjoyed gardening, RV travel, music, knitting and her family.
She is survived by her children Doug Mong, and his wife Le Ann; and Mary Beth Olsen. She also leaves behind her sister Ina Radel (Orville.) She also is survived by four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2001 and her siblings Ivan Leatherwood and Ruth Doxsee, and her son in-law Dan Olsen.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Feb. 21 at The First Lutheran Church Cemetery, 18920 4th Avenue NE in Poulsbo. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Kitsap County. An online guestbook is available at www.cookfamilyfuneralhome.com.
