Melissa “Mae” Nichols died Aug. 6 at Clearbrook Living Center in Silverdale.

Nichols was born Oct. 13, 1919, in Madras, Ore., to William Franklin Edmondson, and Della Lee Nichols. She married Wilbur Arthur “Bill” Nichols, (no relation) in Heppner, Ore., on Oct. 23, 1937.

They lived in Enumclaw until retiring in Kingston.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur.

Nichols is survived by daughters Phyllis M. (Gary) Greene of Kingston and Kathryn L. (Jim) Gross of Bainbridge Island; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brothers Dick Edmondson of Sacramento, Calif., and Jack Edmondson of Portland, Ore.

A celebration of her life is planned for a later date.
