Michael Converse Olds

Jan. 6, 1937 – April 1, 2016

Michael C. Olds died April 1, 2016 of kidney failure. He was born to Jean (Converse) and Mac Lain Olds on Jan. 6, 1937 in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

Mike was in the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity at Washington State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in theater. Michael and Regina Springer Olds married after graduation. She preceded him in death.

The couple had two sons, Mark Gregory (Yoko) and Christopher Craig Olds, both of Seattle. While young, the family avidly enjoyed participating in both the Little Theater and Lakewood Players in Tacoma.

His professional years were spent in advertisement and video production in Seattle. After moving to Kitsap County in 1987, he successfully began his business “Hotei Ltd.” and later changed the name to West Sound Irrigation & Lighting.

Michael is survived by his wife, Marylin (Drace) Olds; sisters Edith Ann (Ted) Jones, Sisters, Oregon and Gretchen Schutte, Tacoma; brother Stephen Olds, Seattle; sister-in-law Donna (Drace) Quantrell, Wapato; and grandchildren Gareth (Kate) Olds, Boston; Amelia (Christopher) Burger, Seattle; Calvin Olds, Seattle; and Taka Olds, Whitman.

A family memorial is scheduled at the family home in Kingston. Mike, a lifelong cooking enthusiast, requested that memorial donations following his death may be made to a food bank in your community.
