Milton Carrigan LaJune

Milton LaJune was born on Jan. 2, 1927 in Carbonado and died on Sept. 5 with his family by his side. When not reading the newspapers voraciously, he tended to his dahlia garden, visited the casino and enjoyed red wine.

He grew up in the Magnolia area of Seattle and graduated from O’Dea High School in 1945. Shortly after he went into the military and was sent to Europe. He was stationed in Italy and then Germany where he attended the Nuremberg Trials. Upon returning home, he attended the University of Alaska at Fairbanks and later graduated from ASU.

He worked for the Chicago Sun Times, Ramada Inns of Phoenix, sold real estate and his last position was a travel agency office manager. LaJune lived in Shelton, Suquamish, and finally Kingston where he was a resident for the last 15 years.

LaJune is survived by two sons, Wayne of Kingston and Cary of Kirkland; two sisters, Charlotte Garrow of Woodburn, Ore., and Lorraine Brown of Redding, Calif.; a son-in-law, four grandchildren and one great-grandson. He is preceded in death by his wife, Judy, in 1999 and his daughter, Gail Vitulli who passed away in July.

A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Oct. 11 at St. Olaf’s Catholic Church, located at 18943 Caldart Ave. NE in Poulsbo. A reception will follow immediately afterward.
