Nellie Eva Sortor, 93

Longtime Kingston and Poulsbo resident Nellie Eva Sortor died June 15, 2007 in Silverdale. She was 93.

Sortor was born to Erastus and Tilley Wright in Edgewood, N.M. on Jan. 18, 1914.

She married Leo Stanley Sortor on June 10, 1930 in Los Angeles, Calif.

Sortor owned and operated Sortor’s Grocery in Kingston from 1960 to 1970.

She was an artist and was a member of the Kitsap Quilter’s Guild.

Sortor is survived by son Galyn (Connie) Sortor of Nordland; daughter Bev (Chuck) Leahy of Albany, Ore.; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

Sortor was preceded in death by her husband Leo, son Neil, daughter Jan Daniel and several brothers and sisters.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on June 23, 2007 at Stone Chapel, with a burial at Eglon Cemetery to follow.
