Norma J. Carey, 78

Poulsbo resident Norma Jean Carey died Aug. 23, 2005 in Seattle. She was 78.

Carey was born to Mildred and Pearl Sanders in Oskaloosa, Iowa on Sept. 5, 1926.

She graduated from Open Bible Institute in Des Moines, Iowa in 1946. Carey enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and reading, especially the Scriptures. She looked forward to weekly games in the Hostmark Apartment activity room. She was also a member of the Hostmark Advocate Group. She was a member of Christ Memorial Church and attended Olympian Senior classes.

Carey is survived by her son Dennis Sanders of Newman Lake; daughters Jonelle Eichholtz of Poulsbo and Donna Zietlow of Spokane; brother Edward Sanders of Anaheim, Calif.; sister Waltressa Bixby of Prescott, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Leona Brisco.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 3 at Christ Memorial Church in Poulsbo.
