Oscar J. Eliason, 89
Lifelong Poulsbo resident Oscar Johan Eliason died in Poulsbo May 27, 2004. He was 89.
Eliason was born Sept. 26, 1914 in Poulsbo.
He attended North Kitsap schools.
Eliason married Tona Vanderhalf in 1943.
He was a fisherman in Alaska for many years. In 1955, Eliason went to work for the Washington State Ferry System, retiring in 1976 after 21 years of service.
Eliason worked on small engines and lawnmowers as a hobby for 50 years. He enjoyed watching the Seattle Sonics and would rarely miss a game. He was an avid fisherman.
Eliason is survived by his wife Tona (Vanderhalf) Eliason of Poulsbo; sons Edwin Eliason of Salt Lake City, Utah, Ron (Carole) Eliason of Kingston, John Eliason of Hansville, Mike (Linda) Eliason of Suquamish and Buddy Eliason of Poulsbo; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister Helen Gordon.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. June 12 at Miller Woodlawn Cemetery in Bremerton. A reception will follow at First Lutheran Church in Poulsbo.
