Patricia Richards died on Jan. 16, embraced by the loving family she had long nurtured. She had waged a two-year battle against breast cancer.
Richards was born in New York on Oct. 31, 1945. Her family lived in both San Diego and Astoria, Ore., before eventually settling in Poulsbo. She graduated with the North Kitsap class of 1964, along with her future husband, Dan Richards. They married Oct. 7, 1967, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Suquamish.
After settling in Bothell and raising three children, Richards returned to the workforce as an office manager in health care where she then worked for 20 years. Following the death of her beloved mother Catherine in 2000, the lure of spoiling grandchildren became too great so Pat and Dan moved to Spokane, where she loved being with and watching her grandchildren’s basketball and soccer games. Herrick also traveled to Arizona to ensure that her grandchildren there knew from whence all good things flowed.
She is survived by her husband Daniel; her brother Ray of Albuquerque; daughters Janine and Renee; son James; sons-in-law Jason and Ryan; granddaughters Kailee (future Lady Zag) and Samantha Ray; and grandsons Ben and Parker.
