Former Poulsbo resident Pauline Frances Jenkins died Nov. 5 , 2006 in Bremerton.
She was 87.
Jenkins was born to Harry and Anna (Clay) Poindexter in Muncie, Ind. on Sept. 16, 1919.
Jenkins married John LaRoy Jenkins in 1937.
She graduated from high school in Terre Haute, Ind. at the age of 16 and attended Olympic College to receive her real estate license.
She was a homemaker until her children were grown when she sold Stanley Home products and was the first teller at the Keyport branch of Kitsap Credit Union in 1964.
She was the first woman president of the Kitsap Board of Realtors. She was later president at the state and national levels and was the Washington State Businesswoman of the Year in 1973.
After her retirement she did volunteer work at a Bible camp and became the chairwoman of the Kitsap County Area Advisory Committee on Aging. She also worked as tour guide for the Washington State Senate until age 72.
Jenkins was a member of Sylvan Way Baptist Church in Bremerton and a 27-year survivor of breast cancer.
She enjoyed reading and making cards.
Jenkins is survived by sons Gary (Sydney) Jenkins of Renton and John (Cheryl) Jenkins of Granite Falls; daughters Jeanine (Steven) Barndt of Orting, Kathi (Rob) Trostad of Poulsbo and Sue (David) Larsen of Texas; foster son Randy (Melanie) Stanley of Moses Lake; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Jenkins was preceded in death by her husband John Jenkins; daughter Nancy Jenkins; brothers Eugene Poindexter, Ralph Poindexter and Jim Poindexter; and sisters Crystal Poindexter and Violet Lonaker.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 18 at Sylvan Way Baptist Church in Bremerton.
