Philip P. Malone, 79
Philip Pratt Malone of Poulsbo died Aug. 10, 2004 in Poulsbo. He was 79.
Malone was born in Butte, Mont. on Sept. 19, 1924.
He was married to Mary Jo Malone for 53 years at the time of his death.
Malone served in the U.S. Marines during World War II, earning two purple hearts. He was wounded at the battles of Guam and Iwo Jima.
Malone later practiced law in Kitsap County and Seattle for more than 50 years. He successfully argued the landmark Oliphant case before the Supreme Court of the United States in 1978.
He was a great lover of his family and life.
Malone is survived by his wife Mary Jo Malone; children Dan Malone, Suzanne Strandberg and Katherine (Dale) Owen Malone; sisters Marcella Strandberg and Mary Etta Moore; two grandchildren; and various nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held from 2-5 p.m. Aug. 14 at the family home at 18385 11th Ave. NE in Poulsbo.
