Phillip D. Schmuck, 86
Phillip Dedrick Schmuck of Poulsbo died Oct. 6, 2004 in Bremerton. He was 86.
He was born May 26, 1918 in Seattle to John A. and Calla Scheib Schmuck.
Schmuck was raised in King County and Poulsbo and he graduated from North Kitsap Union High School in 1936.
He married Darlene Drittenbas on Aug. 11, 1941 in Ephrata.
Schmuck entered the United States Navy on Jan. 22, 1942, served in the South Pacific during World War II and received an honorable discharge in 1945.
He owned and operated a Union 76 service station in Ephrata from 1949-63, then worked overseas for various companies through Morrison Knudsen Construction until his retirement in 1983.
He enjoyed sports, especially baseball. In his younger years, he played baseball in school and on many city leagues. He was an avid fan of Major League Baseball and the Seattle Mariners.
He was preceded in death by his wife Darlene in 1993.
Schmuck is survived by son Darrell (Rita) Schmuck of Mesquite, Nev.; daughter Denise (Dan) Hoffa of Pocatello, Idaho; brothers Melvin (Margie) Schmuck and Lester Schmuck of Poulsbo; sister Betty Berg of Kent; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A private family committal service will be at Mt. View Cemetery in Silverdale. Cremation is under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home of Bremerton.
