Ralph H. Haldorsen of Poulsbo, died from cancer on Oct. 16 at his home. He was 82.
He was born May 7, 1927, in Seattle to Sadie and Edward Haldorsen. He graduated from Broadway High School in Seattle in 1944. He completed an apprenticeship at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in the Machinist Program. Haldorsen served in the U.S. Air Corp from 1945-46. He worked at Boeing in Seattle and Philadelphia as an engineer and retired in 1991.
Haldorsen also worked in materials procurement at PSNS PARA SEAVE for 20 years. He was an talented accordion player who taught lessons and often performed. He enjoyed many journeys including, owning a Dunkin’ Donuts franchise, flying and having a private pilot’s license and being a devout Christian and having a personal relationship with Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Kathy, in 1987.
Surviving are his wife, Avis (Warren) Haldorsen of Poulsbo; a son, Lee (Pamela) of Woodenville; a daughter, Valerie Forbes (Wally) of Kingston; six grandchildren, three step-children, eight step grandchildren, and four step great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Oct. 24 at First Lutheran Church in Poulsbo.
