Richard G. Berg, 76
Poulsbo resident Richard G. Berg died July 5, 2004 in Seattle. He was 76.
Berg was born to Hanson G. and Annie I. (Rowntree) Berg in Shelton on Feb. 25, 1928.
He married Yvonne G. Grantier in August 1951 in Anchorage, Alaska.
Berg attended Hill Military Academy in Portland, Ore. and graduated from University of Washington in Seattle with a B.A.
He served in the U.S. Army 11th Airborne and achieved rank of sergeant and was a lieutenant in the Reserves.
He was a purchasing agent for the State of Alaska for six years and was an active businessman in Kodiak, Alaska for 18 years. He retired in 1982.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge, VFW and Rotary, all of Kodiak, Alaska, and of the Poulsbo Yacht Club.
He was very politically involved in Alaska’s early years and also enjoyed boating, hunting, hiking, trapshooting and debating.
He is survived by his sons Richard A. (Barbara R.) Berg of Spokane and Steven G. and Jeffrey L. Berg; daughter Nancy A. (Lonnie) Woods of Poulsbo; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
There will be no services.
