Richard Alan Hargrave, 84, of Port Orchard, passed away peacefully June 24 at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton.
Mr. Hargrave is a veteran of the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War, where he earned several medals, including the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.
He was born in Yuba City, California, to William and Jean (Anderson) Hargrave. They moved to Portland, Oregon, where he graduated from Franklin High School.
After retiring from the U.S. Navy in 1976, Mr. Hargrave worked as a physician’s assistant at the Timberlake Job Corps near Ripplebrook, Oregon, until 1983. He will now join his beloved wife, Kay Hargrave, who passed away July 31, 2005.
Mr. Hargrave loved to golf and enjoyed a variety of other activities, including woodworking, model building, card and board games, and camping and fishing.
Survivors include his three sons: Michael Alan (and wife Susan) of Oregon; Richard John (and wife Su) of Oregon; and Michael Jerome (and wife Lindsay) of Florida. He also leaves behind his sister, Elizabeth Zion; grandchildren Samuel (Pam); Benjamin (Nikki); Nathanael and Katherine Hargrave; and special friend Peggy Duffey.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 7 at Rill’s Life Tribute Center, 1151 Mitchell Ave., Port Orchard.
