Roberta Ann (Berta) Oliphant

February 11, 1956 – March 5, 2016

Berta Oliphant passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side, after a brave battle with cancer. She was welcomed into the loving arms of her parents Leon and Phyllis Rayment on March 5, 2016. Berta was born on Feb. 11, 1956 in Kirkland, Washington and moved to Kingston in 1972 when her mother purchased a beauty salon named “Phyllis’s Cameo” where Berta worked after school.

She graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1974 and then attended Lynwood Beauty College. Eventually Berta took over her mother’s salon where she owned and operated “Cameo Salon” until 2015. Berta married her high school sweetheart, Scott Oliphant and they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on Feb. 19 of this year.

Berta loved to cook and she became very good at making elaborate cakes for many of the family birthdays. She also loved to sew and enjoyed making doll clothes for her granddaughters. Spring and summer were her favorite time of the year where she could spend time in her fabulous gardens.

Berta is survived by her husband, Scott, of Kingston and her three children; Christy Oliphant of Kingston, Casey (Sian) Oliphant of Silverdale and Collin (Jennifer) Oliphant of Kingston. She also is survived by her brothers, Dennis (Sherry) Mooney of Everett, Rick (Kathy) Rayment of Poulsbo.

“Honey” as the kids called her, lived for her grand babies Lily and Oliver Oliphant of Kingston, and Nevaeh Oliphant, Mia Napora, Brandon and Elijah Fox and great-grandson, Bentley Fox of Silverdale.

A memorial service will be at noon on March 12 at the Bayside Community Church in Kingston. A celebration of life will follow at the Kingston Yacht Club. Online Guest Book is available at www.lewischapel.com
