Born to Danish parents, Aage and Julia Fredericksen, on July 12, 1946, in Tyler, Minnesota, Roger Dean Fredericksen passed away peacefully on his 74th birthday at his beloved home on Bainbridge Island with his long-time partner, Jim Willis, at his side. Diagnosed with a very rare and incurable disease five years ago, Roger’s lengthy battle with amyloidosis is now over. Survived by his exceptional partner in life, Jim; his two sisters, Marlene of Minnesota and Jan of Texas and their families, Roger leaves us with the legacy of his beloved Millstream, the store and concept that he loved, created and founded in Seattle in 1990. Roger and Jim give heartfelt thanks to the fine staff at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and the University of Washington for their excellent treatment and care. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a Celebration of Roger’s Life will take place as soon as his loved ones are able to gather safely. Should anyone be so inclined, remembrances can be made to St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, his community of faith that was so important to him, or to Seattle Cancer Care Alliance for their ongoing research for a cure for amyloidosis.
