Rose M. Nelson, 84

Rose M. Nelson of Poulsbo died Feb. 5, 2006 in Seattle. She was 84.

Nelson was born to Frank and Mary (Zander) Barth on May 26, 1921 in Rosebud, N.D.

She attended rural schools in the area and moved to Mandan, N.D. where she was employed by the local hospital.

She married Francis Nelson in Grand Forks, N.D. March 20, 1948 and they moved 16 times in eight western states as dictated by her huband’s career as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Public Health Service.

Nelson enjoyed homemaking, crafts, cooking and had a green thumb.

She is survived by daughter Vicki Nelson-Briggs of Rainier; Darcy (Christine) Nelson of Santa Clara, Calif.; son Glen Nelson of Poulsbo; brothers John (Eleanor) of Dickinson, N.D., Roy (LaDonna Herman) Barth of Bismarck, N.D. and Emil Barth of Driscoll, N.D.; sisters Katherine Adams of Monterey Park, Calif. and Pauline (Sharon) Pearson of Richmond, Texas; and a grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Antone, Frank and Joseph.

A local private memorial service will be held Feb. 18 at Miller Woodlawn Funeral Home in Bremerton. Internment is scheduled for May 26 at the National Military Cemetery in Mandan, N.D.

Remembrances may be made to a charity of choice.
