Ruby Jensen, 90
Ruby Lois Jensen died at her home July 27. She was born in Seattle Aug. 1, 1917 to Alben and Lora Anderson. They moved to Silverdale in 1919.
Jensen graduated from Silverdale High School in 1935. She worked in the telephone office in Silverdale.
In 1938 she graduated from Wards Beauty College. She started her own beauty salon in Keyport in March 1939.
Jensen married Alfred Jensen of Pearson on April 25, 1941. They built a home at the Keyport Y and moved in August 1942.
Jensen bought a salon on Highway 3 and had a shop at her home for several years.
In 1963, she owned and operated Ruby’s Beauty Salon at the Poulsbo Junction.
Jensen was a volunteer at Martha & Mary, a member of Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 235 and an active member of the Sons of Norway.
Jensen was also the secretary and treasurer of the North Kitsap Little League when it first started.
Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Alfred, sons Daryl (Sue), Howard (Gail), six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and her best friend June Carlson.
In lieu of flowers donations may be given to Hospice of Kitsap County.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Aug. 1 at The Stone Chapel in Poulsbo.
