Ruth Antoinette Longmate died March 30. She was 83. Ruth was born July 8, 1926 in Olympia to William Bell White Howe and Caroline Ruth Howe.

Longmate was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jack Howe; and sisters Lue Seil and Ellen Craswell.

She is survived by her husband, John Longmate of Bremerton; sister, Rose Quimby of Sammamish; and two brothers, Bill Howe (Darlene) of University Place and Rick Howe (Lee) of Florida; three sons, Jack Longmate (Beatriz) of Poulsbo, Jim Longmate of Bremerton, Steve Longmate (Helen) of Poulsbo; two daughters, Janet Hutchison (Coe) of Bothell and Carol Smiley (Chuck) of Bremerton; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. April 17 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 700 Callahan Dr., Bremerton.
