Ruth Ellen Brown passed away peacefully on Oct. 28, 2014. She was 91.

She was born on Dec. 10, 1922 in Stonington, Illinois, to Henderson and Carrie Watson. Ruth graduated from Illinois State University in Normal, and earned her M.A. from Northern Illinois University in Dekalb.

Ruth was a devout Christian.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Orville Brown, in 2012; and son, Orville Jerome “Jed” Brown, in 2010.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherrie Brown Alwood (husband Darrell Alwood); grandson, Shane Martin; granddaughter, Zoe Kapan; great-grandson, Cameron Kapan; and many loving relatives and friends.

A memorial service took place at Westford Funeral Home on Nov. 3, followed by a reception.
