Samuel J. Mabe

Samuel Joseph Mabe died April 28 in Yuma, Ariz. He was 61.

Mabe was born in Suquamish on July 3, 1942.

Mabe was married to Sandra Mabe for 28 years.

He served in the Navy on the U.S.S. Saratoga from June 1960 to July 1963 and had an honorable discharge. He was in the Naval Reserves until July 1966.

Mabe enjoyed singing, playing guitar and being with family and friends.

Mabe is survived by his wife Sandra Mabe of Yuma, Ariz..; sons Sammy Mabe of Indianola, Sean Mabe of Texas, Troy Mabe of Ohio and Anthony Mabe of Texas; daughter Samantha Mabe of Yuma, Ariz.; brothers Bill Mabe of Little Boston, Lewie (Sandy) Mabe of Little Boston, John Mabe of Indianola and Tom Mabe of California; sisters Loni McDonald of Suquamish and Rose Hoover; and two grandchildren.

Mabe was preceded in death by brother Skip Mabe and sisters Edna Deam and Mert Lee.

A memorial service will be held at noon, Saturday, May 10 at the Suquamish Tribal center, with a burial to follow at Chief Sealth Cemetery.
