Sharon L. Stone Millican
January 21, 1941 – December 2, 2015
Sharon traveled the highway of life beginning in Rochester, New York on Jan. 21, 1941, and ending Dec. 2, 2015 at her winter home in Yuma, Arizona.
Although there were bumps along the way, she followed her path until cancer finally presented a toll gate she could not pass.
Sharon’s education proceeded from St. Agnes High School to an associate of arts from Olympic College in Bremerton in 1974; a bachelor of arts in human services from Western Washington University in Bellingham in 1982; and a master of arts in education from Antioch University of Yellow Springs, Ohio, in 1996. Additionally, Sharon took several other courses to further her education.
Her many years of employment included that of a tutor, social worker, adjunct faculty adviser for several colleges, and professor of humanities at the Art Institute of Seattle, where she retired in 2010.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Mark Millican of Poulsbo; brothers, David Wade of Victor, New York, and Jeffrey Wade of New York City; sister, Gale Wickum of Lexington, North Carolina; five children, Lisa Cruz and Tiffany Stone, both of Bremerton, Cheryle Dangell of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, James Wellman of Mayfield, Kentucky, and Lyle Dangell of Suquamish; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Sharon resided in Kitsap County for more than 40 years, and during her life she gathered scores of friends and acquaintances and made her mark on the world that will miss her presence.
There will be no services, but rather a Celebration of Her Life during summer 2016, date yet to be determined. She will be interred at Cherry Grove Memorial Park near Poulsbo.
