Sidney E. Goodwin Jr., 85
Sidney E. Goodwin Jr. of Silverdale died Feb. 22, 2005 in Bremerton. He was 85.
Goodwin was born to Sidney E. and Florence (McKinley) Goodwin in Seattle on July 11, 1919.
He married Leatrice Tilson in New York, NY in 1943 and later married Louise Campbell Ransdell in Maui, Hawaii.
Goodwin graduated from Queen Anne High School in Seattle in 1937.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and returned to Seattle in 1945. He then joined the Naval Air Reserve and spent an additional 23 years as a naval officer with the Select Reserve ASW Squadrons in Washington and California.
Goodwin worked for Northern Life Insurance Company and Safeco Insurance Company. He also established two insurance service companies in San Francisco, Calif.
He was a member of the U.S. Reserve Officers Association and was active in the Sequim/Dungeness Chamber of Commerce Visitors Center for many years.
Goodwin is survived by his wife Louise “Lucy” Campbell Ransdell of Silverdale; sons David S. Goodwin of Ashland, Ore., Steven C. Goodwin of Silverton, Ore., Robert B. Goodwin of Pollock Pines, Calif.; and three stepsons; daughter Joy Nelsen of Ashland, Ore.; 17 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney E. and Florence (McKinley) Goodwin.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. March 6 at Crista Shores Retirement Community. He will be cremated at Cherry Grove Crematory. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of The Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove.
