Sigfrid Johnson, 84

Sigfrid Johnson of Hansville died Jan. 21, 2004 in Seattle. He was 84.

Johnson was born to Erik J. and Emelia (Kopint) Johnson in Hansville on Nov. 22, 1919.

He married Mary K. Bigelow on May 18, 1949 in Seattle.

Johnson graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1939.

He worked as a longshoreman with a home port of Port Gamble for 30 years until his retirement in 1985. Later, he was a volunteer at the Hansville Cemetery.

Johnson was a member of Trout Unlimited of Poulsbo and the Senior Bowling League at All Star Lanes in Silverdale. He enjoyed fishing, farm work, bowling, caring for his family and eating lutefisk. He was a member of Kingston Christian Church.

Johnson is survived by his son Vernon S. Johnson of Hansville; daughter Shellie J. Russell of Hansville; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary K. (Bigelow) Johnson and sister Mildred.

A celebration of his life will take place at a later date at Kingston Christian Church. Inurnment will take place at the Hansville Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
