Stanley Dale Overby

February 15, 1922 – March 4, 2016

Stan, 94, passed away on March 4, 2016. He was born on Feb. 15, 1922 in Seattle to Lillian and George Stanley Overby, their only child.

He majored in Electrical Engineering at the University of Washington. He served in the Army Signal Corps during WWII, stationed in the Philippines. After his service, he worked for Pacific NW Bell Telephone for 43 years. He and Grace Dahl married on Sept. 3, 1962.

Stan loved all things Norwegian, taught Scandinavian folk dancing and Norwegian language at the Sons of Norway, attended First Lutheran Church and was a member of the Vestre Sun Mannskor.

He is survived by his wife, Grace Overby; daughter, Tani Stafford; son and daughter-in-law, Kris and Monica Overby; son, Erik Overby Sr.; seven grandchildren, Tia, Ava, Maia and Jakob Overby, Katrina and Erik Overby Jr., Karina and Kyle Stafford; and great-granddaughter, Gracie May Overby.

A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. March 11 at First Lutheran Church in Poulsbo. Remembrances can be made to Poulsbo First Lutheran or Poulsbo Sons of Norway Scholarship Fund.
