Stephen M. Tate, 79, of Poulsbo, WA passed away on January 26, 2017. Steve was born on March 9,1937 in Petersburg, AK to Richard and Willa Tate. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Lou, July 19,1955. Steve was the owner and operator of Tate Towboat Co. for 40 years, who in his spare time, refurbished old tugboats, and enjoyed retirement life in Arizona; creating new, lifelong friends, and caring for his many prized fruit trees.

Steve’s memory will live on with his loving wife, Mary Lou; son, Stephen Tate, Jr (Nanette) and his daughter’s, Marianna Smyth and Jennifer Pendergraft; Daughters, Stephanie Kline (Brian) and her children, Erik Sarvela and Beth Sarvela-Ashmore, Sue Tate Cox (David) and their children, Tessa Kleppe and Connor Cox, and Sharyl Tate and her children, Josh Sullivan and Katie Vanhulle; brothers, Murray and Mike Tate; and his 13 great-grandchildren.

He was beloved by his family and friends, and respected by his peers. His smile was as big as his hugs; capturing the hearts of all who met him.
