Verlin R. Rice of Yakima died June 7, 2003. He was 75.
Rice was born to William Lee and Agnes Teresa (Hubby) Rice Oct. 23, 1927.
He married Dorothy Hurd.
Rice was educated in Bellingham and then served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He worked in the lumber industry and then moved to Eugene, Ore., where he worked as a truck driver.
He lived in Seattle from 1959-1993, then Poulsbo before moving to Yakima two years ago.
He enjoyed his family, boating camping and charter fishing.
Rice is survived by his wife Dorothy Rice of Yakima; sons Jerry (Carol) Rice of Shoreline and Donald (Brandie) Rice of Seattle; daughter Trish (Edward) Whitish of Yakima; sister Doris Engels of Bellingham; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by sister Mamie Fae Hubbard and a grandson.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. June 30 at Woodlawn Cemetery, 5977 Northwest Drive, Ferndale.
