Walter F. Ball, 78, passed away on May 8th, 2022. He was born on February 27th, 1944 (he claims aboard the ferry on the way to Seattle). He was the oldest of 5, 4 boys and a sister. He discovered art at an early age and continued throughout his life to become an accomplished Painter.
Walt had many jobs through the years. Changing truck tires, building boats, a master mechanic who built 15 cars in his little garage. He was a crane operator for over 40 years, having operated virtually every type and size of crane, lifting everything from pallets to ballistic missiles and nuclear fuel. In his later years, he obtained state and OSHA credentials and started his own crane inspection and certification business.
Walt loved his community. He coached youth baseball for many years, served on the parks district board, and played many sports himself until the only sport he could play was golf. Walt was known as the “Mayor of Eagledale”, a position he was elected to at a keg party in a field after he and his 2 brothers returned from Vietnam.
Walt married Carol in 1965 and they started a family in 1973 with first Andrew and then Christopher. As a family, they loved to go camping and travel. They remain today, 52 plus years later, as committed as the first day.
A celebration will be held at Fay Bainbridge State Park from 4pm to 8pm on Sunday June 5th.
