The Christmas holiday brings an outpouring of goodwill from folks of all persuasions and economic situations, for their loved ones, needy children and hungry families.
Thank goodness our community responds in helping to turn a bereft time into a joyous one. But there is one sector of our community often overlooked: our seniors.
Whether they live in comfortable homes or senior residences, or are making do with a tight fixed income, many of our elderly neighbors don’t have immediate family members to hug or appreciate while sitting by the Christmas tree. Some of them live a solitary, often lonely life.
You can help bring merriment into their lives this holiday season by bringing a present or two they can enjoy. The annual “Be A Santa To A Senior” program collects items for area seniors that can be wrapped and presented to them.
Take the time to call the program at 360-782-4663 to learn more. You’ll feel better for it and a senior in our community will feel appreciated.
