Those crazy party planners are at it again.
As if it weren’t enough to cap off Poulsbo’s centennial celebration last year by throwing a street dance, on Saturday there will be an encore a year in the making.
Poulsbo will embrace the party atmosphere once again by celebrating well, we guess their celebrating the 101st birthday. Or maybe they’re just celebrating for the sake of fun. Any way about it, there will be plenty to see, smell, taste and touch this weekend in and around downtown Poulsbo.
The Poulsbo Arts Festival will run from noon to 6 p.m. Aug. 14, from 10 a.m to 6 p.m. Aug. 15 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Poulsbo’s Waterfront Park. There will be music, arts and crafts booths and children’s activities.
Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., children can get up close and personal with heavy machinery at the Touch A Truck at Poulsbo Village. Fire trucks, dump trucks and fire engines will be available for exploring.
Saturday evening, the community events culminate with the second annual Summer Street Dance. Why a second street dance? Why not?
More to the point, this year’s street dance is an affirmation that last year’s event was well received.
Tammy Mattson, co-owner of Tizley’s Europub, said at the end of last year’s event attendees asked for the event to become an annual one, so they obliged.
Another celebration not to be missed with be at Betty Iverson Kiwanis Park to celebrate the neighborhood open space.
The pot luck celebration begins at 1 p.m. Sunday. Attendees are encouraged to bring a dish and meat to grill.
The park, also known as Scandia Knolls park, is located at 20255 First Avenue NE.
All in all, this weekend is going to be full of family entertainment.
Put on your dancing shoes and go join the fun.
Oh yeah: And let’s hope it doesn’t rain.
