Letter to the editor: Annual Semancik Foundation Crab Feed a success

Crackin’ Crab for Chuck’s KIDS #8 was held on March 7 and was deemed a huge victory for Bremerton KIDS. All proceeds from this event go to this non-profit’s scholarship fund, which presents awards to Knight grads, many of whom have overcome life-altering circumstances.

Foundation president and Bremerton High School Vice Principal Ryan Nickels, who ramrods the popular event, was heard to say, “All the effort is worthwhile when one of our scholarship recipients says, ‘I didn’t know that anyone believed in me.’”

A crowd estimated at near 300 representing three Bremerton high schools and a very caring community showed their colors to support Bremerton KIDS.

Crab feed attendee Tami Anderson’s opinion of the evening was…

“What a great time! … Not only was the food top notch, the service was some of the best I’ve EVER received. Something has to be said for Olympic College basketball team and their hard work tonight!”

Attending his first Semancik crab feed local trivia guru Jon Handel was elated:

“HUGE success! Wow, everyone was having a great time. I ate so much. The silent auction baskets were fantastic. The band was kicking! The dessert raffle and 50/50 raffles were smart ideas, too! … I cannot wait until next year!”

You can count on it. Bremerton Mayor Patty Lent, a crab feed regular, will be back next March. Maybe we will see you there?

On behalf of the Semancik Foundation Board of Directors, “Thanks ALL for YOUR great support.”
