Downtown businesses
Construction
not helping
I’m very concerned about the possible loss of independent, local businesses, as a result of the downtown construction projects.
Gurdarshan Kaberwall is the owner of the New Delhi Restaurant in Bremerton and works there with his wife, Dharmijit Kaur, and their son, Sukwinder Singh. Kaberwall moved to the United States in the mid-1990s after growing up in northern India and traveling around the country working for his family’s trucking company. In an earlier interview he said the food served in the Punjab region where he was born is popular throughout India.
New Delhi opened for business in downtown Bremerton Aug. 9, 2006 — and what a gift this family brought with them! Downtown construction has resulted in decreased traffic and business has greatly suffered. Bremerton needs the diversity small, independent businesses offer.
New Delhi won’t last without immediate support from the city and our community. It’s located at 221 Washington Ave. and can be reached at (360) 782-2867. Happy hour/great food! Pass it on!
