We would like to respond to a recent article posted in the Central Kitsap Reporter, “A place where gymnastics comes with support.”
We are writing this first as the proud parents of a wonderful young girl. Our daughter has progressed through recreational gymnastic classes and is now competing on a team at Olympic Gymnastics Center (OGC).
OGC has been an amazing place for her to grow as a young lady and as an athlete. After attending many gymnastic meets, we can confidently say OGC is led by some of the best coaches in the state of Washington. We know this through watching the girls practice and compete. We can see an incredible work ethic and a drive to succeed.
Most importantly, we see a positive spirit in how they compete and interact as young girls growing up. The “other gyms” as noted in the article are developing young girls into wonderful members of our community. It is being done through caring, supportive and excellent coaching.
The second reason for writing is to directly address the article and comments made. It is wonderful to see places like our local gyms being built. Places where children can go to develop into positive community members. In the recent article, Cascade Elite West made comments that might lead people to believe “other gyms” teach in a negative way.
We will say nothing could be further from the truth! It was disappointing to read statements with negative undertones directed at other local gyms.
