Police shouldn’t hesitate

In Pasco, Washington, recently a police-involved shooting occurred that is covered almost daily in the media.

It is reminiscent of Ferguson, Missouri, where a store owner and a single officer were assaulted, but with a different twist. A man – in this case an illegal alien with a criminal history – was throwing large rocks at citizens and police officers.

A rock is a deadly weapon. Stoning is still used as a method of execution is some countries. When he would not stop the officers tried using a Taser, but it was ineffective. After a chase, he turned on the officers and was shot dead.

His days of law breaking activity and hurling deadly rocks are over. I’m glad the officers did what they had to do to protect the public and themselves.

I do not understand people who march and protest in support of law breakers who attempt life threatening assaults on others.

I hope our fine Bremerton police officers will never hesitate to use deadly force if they or our citizens are threatened.

I would rather see our officers go home to their families at night and take their chances with the justice system and jury if need be.

I’m very thankful Bremerton has leadership that is very supportive of our officers unlike places such as New York City.
